Police Records Clerk maintains the records filing system and/or database used to manage, access, and preserve electronic and paper records of criminal justice activities. Assists in providing accurate and clear information to public and other departments. Being a Police Records Clerk may perform other clerical duties including taking photographs, fingerprints, and answering telephone inquiries. Typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Police Records Clerk typically reports to police sergeant or police lieutenant. The Police Records Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     What you’ll do: You’ll perform clerical tasks, systems and procedures related to multiple departments and the administration in compliance with MTC and customer directives.

    Essential Functions:

    • Perform general clerical duties related to inmate/detainee records.
    • Enter all required data related to inmate/detainee arrivals, departures, and count activities into the designated database.
    • Maintain and print inmate/detainee rosters used for count.
    • Coordinate inmate/attorney scheduled phone appointments according to pre-set guidelines.
    • Proofread records or forms, copy needed information from one record to another as required, and file records in inmate/detainee official record folder.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • One (1) year word processing or computer data entry experience preferred.
    • US Citizenship required.
    • Must be 21 years of age.
    • Valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
