Polysomnographic Technician under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies in order to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders. Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis. Being a Polysomnographic Technician typically requires an associate degree or its equivalent and certification as a Polysomnographic Technician. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. About the Unit/Department/Team
The Sleep Study Department lead is in a close working relationship with the sleep study staff, medical staff, other members of the health administrative personnel, patients and patient families, and maintain a cooperative working relationship within their department and interdepartmentally.

Duties & Responsibilities OR Position Summary
Required job responsibilities are to review referrals, schedule and educate patients on the sleep study procedure. Gather patient information and orient patient to sleep the sleep lab. Must learn or have skills to prepare and calibrate equipment while following procedural protocols to perform the test as indicated. Must assist with scoring using the professionally accepted guidelines. After scoring facilitate and oversee workflow to providers for interpretation. Manage sleep study results back to patient, provider, and durable medical equipment companies as needed.
Position Type
This job is a full-time position. Monday Friday 8am-5pm.
Qualifications
Successful completion of a polysomnography program, of no less than one year duration, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility, or a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Polysomnographic Trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies. Must maintain active Minnesota RN or LPN or a Minnesota Registered Respiratory Therapist.
