Being a Portfolio Manager monitors daily investment activities to be aware of market changes. Considers legal and tax impact of investment decisions. In addition, Portfolio Manager may manage a team of portfolio manages. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1. Being a Portfolio Manager gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Summary:

    Primary responsibilities of this position are to provide the Commercial Banking team with support on select credits, assist with managing portfolio risk, and assist with other special projects.

    Primary Duties:

    • Help commercial banking leadership and other bankers as designated by leadership on managing existing portfolio of client relationships and potential new clients.
    • Analyze financial statements, prepare litmus documents and proposals for existing and potential new clients.
    • Develop and maintain client/portfolio trend reports and monitor industry guidance to manage risk.
    • Responsible for the review of loan committee presentations, annual credit reviews and problem loan summaries.
    • Analyze interim financial statements of existing clients.
    • Help with administration of nonperforming loans.
    • Maintain reporting infrastructure designed to manage risk in this division.
    • Support key strategic relationships with commercial banking leadership and other bankers as designated by leadership.
    • Establish and negotiate, where necessary, terms under which the credit could be structured, including the costs, repayment methods, and collateral requirements.
    • Assist banker with onboarding of select customers to make sure the process is being managed well and goes smoothly (may require coordination with Commercial Loan Coordinator, TM, Credit, etc.).
    • Monitor the credit facility once it is booked, including an assessment of interim financial information, borrowing base reports, ongoing covenant compliance and other supporting documentation.
    • Assist in the training process of future bankers, portfolio managers and commercial loan coordinators.
    • Mentor junior Portfolio Managers in the credit extension process.
    • Serve as backup or delegate for approvals of a certain level as requested by commercial banking leadership.
    • Understand and adhere to the Bell Commercial lending guidelines.
    • May also support activities including those related to preparation of information for team meetings, executive management and/or board of directors' reports, internal or external audits, and regulatory examinations.
    • Provide unequaled customer service to commercial deposit and loan customers.
    • Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.
    • Know and practice LOCBUTN, our Golden Rules, and Bell Bank Customer Service Standards.
    • Know, understand, and live the company values and bottom line.
    • Conduct activities consistent with established Bell Bank policies, procedures and systems, the Bell Bank Employee Conduct policies, the Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
    • All employees are responsible for information security, including compliance with policies and standards which protect sensitive information.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Job Skills Required:

    • A. in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
    • Five or more years of credit, lending or examining experience.
    • Working knowledge of loan documentation.
    • Above-average written and communication skills.
    • Proficiency with computer technology.
    • Ability to deal with multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Effective time management and organizational skills.
