Acenxion Biosystems is a start-up company in the field of medical diagnostic devices. Acenxion Biosystems is based in Lawrence, KS within the KU campus. We are seeking a new Research Assistant to join our team. Our research team consists of engineers and scientists developing a rapid phenotypic antibiotic susceptibility test (AST) using innovative and patented technology.

Given the focus of this position is on research and development, the nature and aim of the work done may change as priorities shift. Position: Assistant Scientist, Full-time (M – F)

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Carry out day-to-day experiments as required.
• Analyze experimental results and record details accurately.
• Develop protocols for experiments.
• Troubleshoot issues and develop innovative solutions.
• Communicate with engineering, scientific, and management team on scientific updates.
• Travel as necessary to perform position description duties.
• Physically agile and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications:

• BS in biomedical engineering or related field with 1 year of experience in an academic or professional lab setting.

Skills:

• Hands-on experience in research and engineering concepts.
• Possess knowledge of microbiology and clinical microbiology techniques.
• Experience following SOPs, and reporting results.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with curiosity.
• Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.

Preferred:

• Formal laboratory or practical experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, MATLAB, or other software languages.
• Ability to perform well in the start-up environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
