Store Sales Clerk

  • Provide excellent customer service to customers in accordance with company guidelines. Help maintain the store on a daily basis as outlined on the shift duties checklist. Understand all sales procedures as explained by the Store Manager and/or the Assistant Manager. Perform any other tasks that the Store Manager requires for the overall profitable operation of the store.

    Essential Functions Statement(s)
    Operate cash register, handle cash and credit transactions accurately, assist customers with item selections.
    Ring all sales immediately when customer approaches the sales counter and never keep a customer waiting at the sales counter while you perform other tasks.
    Use suggestive selling as directed by the Manager and place customer purchases in an Apple Market bag.
    Operate fuel console in order to make fuel purchases easy and accurate for customers. Pay close attention to the fuel islands in order to reduce the risk of fuel drive offs.
    Have complete knowledge of guidelines for selling alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and lottery to make sure we do not sell these products to any customers who are not old enough to make those purchases.
    Report any loitering or suspicious activity to the Manager or the Assistant immediately.
    Replace and fill merchandise on shelves and in coolers as required. Keep store aisles free of litter, boxes, and cases that could cause an accident. Report any product that does not scan, or scans at an incorrect price, to the Manager on a daily basis.
    Report any accidents of either employees or customers to the Manager immediately, complete an incident report, and fax that report to the corporate office as soon as possible.
    Complete daily shift balance report at the end of each shift.
    Do not smoke inside the store, always use the designated area outside the store for smoke breaks.
    Merchandise that you purchase for personal use must be paid for immediately and a receipt kept as proof of purchase.
    Report any malfunctions of equipment by placing a work order in Helpdesk pro located on the store computer.
    Keep the drink bar clean and stocked during each shift and always have fresh coffee available for customers.
