    Reports to: Plant Manager
    Status: Non-Exempt

    Job Summary:
    A fast-paced environment where employees are engaged in the operation, repair, and maintenance of stationary engines, electrical generators, motors, and pumps to generate electrical power.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Ensures compliance with the air quality permit conditions.
    • Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
    • Records data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, voltage load and generator balance.
    • Uses prescribed plant operating procedures to adjust manual controls or override automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment.
    • Visually inspects and listens to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
    • Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, valves, gauges, and cleaning or replacing other component parts as required.
    • Oils and lubricates equipment.
    • Performs water analysis of engine coolant to ensure proper chemical limits are maintained.
    • Records operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operator’s logbook.
    • Opens and closes valves as required for proper system operation and mechanical isolation.
    • Opens and closes circuit breakers for proper system operation and electrical isolation.
    • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
    • Reads and understands technical manuals and system piping and instrumentation diagrams.
    • Performs routine preventative and basic corrective maintenance in accordance with technical manual procedures.
    • Prepares legible and understandable work orders for required preventative and corrective maintenance.
    • Reads, understands, complies with, and supports EHS/EMS, regulatory procedures, and established plant work rules.
    • Coordinates power needs with mine entities and power broker.
    • Prepares weekly/monthly generation reports.
    • Prepares monthly production report.
    • Monitors solar system production.
    • Organizes all plant logs, prepares them for long term storage, and stores them in the facility warehouse. Recalls past logs as required.
    • Maintains cleanliness of control room and designated equipment/plant areas.
    • Maintains and organizes the Facility Event logs.
    • Maintains and files environmental monitoring logs and reports.
    • Oversees all keys and locks for the Lockout/Tagout program.
    • Oversees Confined Space Entry program.
    • Oversees Hot Work Permit program.
    • Supervises loading/unloading of bulk chemical deliveries.
    • Oversees equipment rotation.
    • Maintains and organizes the meter reading, and trip logs.
    • Maintains gate log.
    • Updates equipment hours in MP2 to generate preventative maintenance work orders.
    • Assists maintenance personnel with major repairs.
    • Must be trained as a supervisor within one year of completing operator training.
    • Employee must be willing to work rotating (day and night) shifts and be willing to and be available to work mandatory overtime to cover shifts and work during scheduled overhauls.

    • Must have a strong knowledge of reciprocating engine technology and associated equipment.
    • Upon hiring, the employee must complete the operator training qualifications and shift supervisor qualifications within the required timeframe.
    • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access and computerized maintenance management programs.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrated use of a calculator to perform the above calculations is sufficient.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.

The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequent climbing consists of ladders ranging from 10’ to 25’ high located indoors and outside. The employee must be able to quickly respond to plant alarms and emergencies to minimize adverse effects.
    • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions (extreme heat and cold). The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, extremely hot or cold conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually in excess of recommended dB levels, requiring the constant use of hearing protection. In some areas where the noise exceeds single hearing protection levels, double hearing protection is required.
