Job Purpose

Shear sheet metal and other raw materials to specified shape/size.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate shear on sheet metal and other raw materials.
• Read and understand production assembly drawings.
• Use measuring tools, calipers, tape measure. Recognize different material type/gauge.
• Report unresolved shortages and job status to supervisor.
• Report needed drawing corrections to supervisor.
• Complete production work order reports. Keep accurate inventory of sheet metal.
• Follow standard shop practices and verbal instructions.
• Detect and report any mechanical defects of raw material.
• Check work for accuracy and completeness.
• Refer all unusual conditions to supervisor.
• Maintain clean and safe work area.
• All duties assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management.
• Responsible for understanding and executing Company goals and objectives while actively contributing to the cohesiveness of the team.

Qualifications

• Education

o High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Experience

o 1-2 years shear experience.

• Skills

o Able to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division calculations using whole numbers and fractions.

o Able to read a measuring tape to a 1/16” measurement.

o Able to read and understand documents written in standard English.

o Able to read and interpret production drawings and work instructions.

o Able to use/operate; brake, hand and portable power tools, forklift & pallet jack as required.

• Abilities

o Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished inwritten, verbal, or diagram form.

o Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Professional Certification(s)

o Able to attain Myers Power Products, Inc. forklift and overhead crane certificate within (2) weeks of employment as required.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing area with dust, noise, moving machinery, heat, cold and humidity (not temperature controlled).

Physical Requirements

Production position. Spends the majority of the work shift walking, bending and stooping.

Generally requires clear vision at 20 inches or less for reading. Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting as required to carry supplies, tools and equipment throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs. with no assistance.
