Summary:
Candidates work in a team-based, self-managed operation with high levels of interaction to effectively solve problems and perform production level maintenance. The Maintenance Technician performs duties under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager. Works independently to perform preventative, predictive, and corrective troubleshooting maintenance, repair, installation, modification, fabrication, and/or application of the plants packaging/ industrial mechanical and electrical systems to maintain product quality and production efficiencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Adhere to all safety and environmental programs and policies.
· Effectively interface with equipment operators, maintenance team and other personnel to quickly detect, diagnose and repair equipment failures on a variety of processes.
· Maintains preventative maintenance logs on all equipment.
· Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment monthly.
· Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and mechanical problems on flexographic packaging equipment to include printing presses, laminators, extruders, and slitters.
· Must be competent to make electrical and mechanical diagnostic evaluation and prescribe corrective action that will provide a “like new” condition that will yield high production efficiencies. Should be capable to diagnose cause of electrical, controls, mechanical (to include mechanical/ machine repair, hydraulics, and pneumatics) malfunction(s) and/ or failure of equipment or systems repairs or replaces defective components.
· Must maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company GMP/ SQF standards.
· Adheres to procedures, work instructions and work-orders and maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests in the eMaint CMMS system.
· Assist in maintaining documentation for existing and new equipment, control and building power system installations and records work in the CMMS (eMaint).
· Ability to read and troubleshoot with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings, schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches to determine problem and make appropriate repairs.
· Aid mechanical installations as directed.
· Dismantles devices to gain access, then disassembles, removes, replaces and/or repairs defective mechanical and electrical components.
· Must be willing to cover opposite shift technician when out and on vacations or other scheduled days off. Overtime and holidays may be requested due to support production work schedules when/ if needed.
· Works 12-hour shifts on a 2 on. 2 off, 3 on, 2 off. 2 on, 3 off work schedules. 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Electrical:
· Experienced in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using devices such as multi-meter (ohmmeter, voltmeter) and ammeter (clamp) and meggers to troubleshoot electrical circuits and components to locate shorts, faulty connections, defective parts and replaces or repairs to suite and ensure compatibility and safety of systems.
· Experience working with PLC’s, and PLC ladder logic.
· Ability to read and troubleshoot with electrical drawings.
· Utilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, SDS, on-line portals, safety materials, system drawings, schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
· Assist with system startups and operational checkouts on systems including configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding, and power testing.
· Installation of low and high voltage (single/ three phase) industrial electro-mechanical & control systems for utility & production equipment.
Qualifications (Skills and experience needed):
· Must believe safety and environmental compliance is number one.
· Journeyman Electrician and/ or Associates degree or equivalent from a certified technical school, in an Industrial Maintenance discipline (Preferably industrial electrical, and or mechanical engineering technology) or years of equivalent documented multi-craft technical experience.
· Ability to work with contractors, equipment manufacturers, engineers, and operational personnel.
· Technical skills preferred:
o Experience working with PLC’s, and PLC programming.
o Knowledge of computer hardware and software including general networking and communications.
o Knowledge of National Electric Code and NFPA 70E Arc Flash protocols.
o A strong mechanical aptitude is required.
o Knowledge of troubleshooting pneumatics/ hydraulics.
o Machining and welding skills a plus.
o Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
o Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally.
o Must possess the necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
o Possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Flexographic Printing Presses, Laminator/ Extruders, Slitters, and associated plant processes.
· Journeyman Electrical or Associate’s Degree/ Technical School Degree/ or equivalent work experience.
