Pre-K Assistant Teacher jobs in the United States

We are looking for a qualified preschool assistant to prepare small children for Kindergarten alongside our amazing staff in a small urban environment with nature based aspects to the program. Our program is one of a kind. Our curriculum has aspects of Waldorf education, Montessori and traditional academics weaved with a modern social emotional age appropriate approach. We also love art based curricula.

The hours are 8:30 am - 4:00 pm daily, with a 30 minute paid break. We are looking for someone three days a week.

We are a one room school in the heart of Saratoga Springs. Our program is art and nature-based. We also focus on social emotional work and academics. We sing through the day and offer a loving environment. This job requires a love of the outdoors and walking around our small city daily and to visit the playground.

You will help mold the foundational elements that children need in order to have success in their education. A preschool assistant teacher must have a great love, and patience for children.

The skills needed for this position include: knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods, the ability to keep children engaged, and the ability to earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child, so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of their education.

Responsibilities

• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, singing etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, participate in crafts etc.)
• Organize nap and snack time and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Collaborate with other educators
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Skills

• Proven experience working with children, two years experience as a babysitter, camp counselor, nanny or assistant teacher
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and Preschool educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Professional communication skills
• Ability to act as a mediator between children
• A willingness to learn our teaching methods
• Gentle, friendly and reliable
• CPR Certification or a willingness to complete the training before the job begins
• Willingness to be fingerprinted, finish all state paperwork prior to joining our staff
• Willingness to complete CPR training, if you do not have prior certification

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.62 per hour
