Precision Assembler performs precision assembling, aligning, or adjusting within very tight tolerances. Follows schematics and specification documents to complete measuring, fitting, wiring, and soldering of components to assemble units. Being a Precision Assembler calibrates and tests subcomponents and finished products to ensure quality and functionality. Inspects produced parts for quality assurance, identifies defects and makes adjustments. Additionally, Precision Assembler uses standard hand and power tools, and precision measuring tools such as micrometers, verniers, and dial calipers. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Precision Assembler works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Summary:
Install and remove mechanical and electrical components in assemblies and sub-assemblies per work instructions and/or visual aids. May troubleshoot failed assemblies to determine corrective action.
Responsibilities:
* Uses hand tools and custom fixtures, working in a team environment with other assemblers and support functions to produce products on time and with high level of quality.
* Performs validation and inspection of own work and within immediate work area
* Maintains adequate supplies and a neat and orderly work area
* Maintains tools and equipment in proper working order
* Maintains the security and confidentiality of customer products and documentation
* May become involved with product testing
* Participates in providing timely feedback to upstream and downstream operations as appropriate
* Proactively participates in site Lean engagement and activities.
* Provides feedback on ways to reduce scrap created within the process by recommending corrective action to reduce or eliminating root cause.
* Adheres to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
* Complies and follows all company security policies and procedures. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
* Works on problems of limited scope under the direction of the area lead and/or supervisor
* Recommend methods for improving area efficiency and reducing waste.
* Builds stable working relationships with operators and peers.
* Learns and masters all tasks associated with product assembly that are assigned
* Mechanical and electrical aptitude including circuits and general tools, electric static discharge (ESD), torque and strain mechanical properties and understanding of fluid and pneumatic systems
* Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required
* Identifies assembly non-conformance and performs corrective actions
* Able to handle changing priorities
* Effective communication, both verbal and written
* Responds to written and verbal instructions
* Able to work overtime as needed
* Obtain and renew certifications on assigned equipment and be willing to cross-train in other areas
* Participates in a continuous improvement activity
