The Printing Press Operator reviews job specifications and complete setup tasks, including filling ink, calibrating machine, and loading stock. Completes print production jobs on various types of printing press machines, including digital, flexographic, web, screen, or others. Being a Printing Press Operator performs in-process quality inspections utilizing standard testing protocols. Conducts visual inspection of samples prior to running job. In addition, Printing Press Operator completes all required production logs and documentation. Interprets equipment diagnostics, troubleshoots breakdowns, and makes necessary adjustments to complete the job. Performs regular maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers of press from one job to another. Maintains a clean and safe workspace. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being a Printing Press Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. SUMMARY
The Press Brake Operator will use a press brake to bend, shape, cut, and manipulate sheet metal and metal plates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare, set up, and adjust press brake as required by product plans and productions schedules.
- Ensure that there are sufficient raw materials available.
- Measure and align materials to be used.
- Inspect products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
SKILLLS / ABILITIES
- Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow product plans.
- Basic computer and math skills.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of experience in metal fabrication or related work preferred.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physically able to operate the press brake.
- Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
