Principal Architect oversees and manages a team responsible for architectural projects. Reviews and approves architectural procedures and techniques used to complete projects. Being an Principal Architect has a diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility for final specifications, approval of ordered materials, and overall guidance on objectives and concepts. Ensures architectural designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards. Additionally, Principal Architect keeps up to date on the development of new architectural methods or techniques. Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture. Requires a State Architect's License. Typically reports to a director. The Principal Architect typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Principal Architect typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Your focus will be on:
Interpreting design concepts and translating them into workable solutions and evaluate alternatives for cost effectiveness. Ensure corrections and clarifications are made.
Implementing all local, state, and federal applicable building codes, constructability, and architectural standards of practice.
Controlling projects from start to finish and maintaining strong practice of documentation to keep within budget and deadlines.
Working efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines, as well as balancing multiple projects.
Coordinating verbal and written communications with a multi-discipline team. Interacting with contractors and clients throughout the various phases of the project.To be considered for this position youll need to meet the following minimum qualifications:
Registered Architect in Minnesota.
5-10 years architectural design experience preferred (should be able to showcase finished/built work).
Knowledge of principles and practices of architecture.
Must be able to lead teams on projects
Advanced understanding of building codes; specifications and IBC.
Strong Revit skills.
