HOPE Community Corporation is a small business in Eugene, OR. Our goal is to create a new nonprofit housing venture, one of the first of its kind anywhere. HOPE Community Corporation, operating alongside St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County (SVdP), is dedicated to producing quality manufactured homes quickly and at reduced cost for low-income families.
The Production Manager is the senior leader responsible for production of manufactured homes on the HOPE factory floor. Retains complete accountability for execution and continuous improvement of production across the plant’s production departments. Responsible for meeting specific client quality and production goals. Accountable for production process mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, risk identification, service expectations and overseeing the training of all production supervisors, team leads, and team members. Develop and coach production supervisors and team leads. Manage production personnel scheduling and accountability, and effectively resolve conflicts as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee production employees, ensuring work is conducted in a safe manner in accordance with all safety policies.
- Provide leadership and management of daily production schedules, site support services and building facilities.
- Accountable for meeting production goals while staying within budget limits.
- Maintain open communication with plant general manager regarding safety concerns and achievement of production quality and productivity goals.
- Develop and implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize production efficiency. Identify areas for process improvement. Implement strategies to enhance productivity.
- Oversee line supervisors to ensure that the Design Approval Primary Inspection Agencies (DAPIA) manual is consistently followed. Ensure the accurate and efficient assembling of building components across all production areas.
- Work with 3rd party inspectors and production staff to ensure plant meets In Plant Inspection Agency (IPIA) requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality Control Manager to enforce strict adherence and compliance with quality assurance requirements/HUD building codes.
- Collaborate with Purchasing Manager to ensure incoming materials meet quality specifications and are correctly processed and inventoried. Assist in development and implementation of strategies for supply chain management.
- Proactively organize line supervisors to meet production goals. Forecast and plan production goals, staffing, and other needs.
- Proactively communicate and coordinate with supervisors regarding attendance and staffing needs across the production areas.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Ensure appropriate maintenance and stewardship of tools and machinery.
- Interview candidates and collaborate with HR/General Manager on hiring of production staff.
- In collaboration with Line Supervisors, HR and General Manager (as required), strategically manage workforce, including hiring, training, termination, advancement, promotion, and other team member changes of status.
- Maintains and manages on-site inventory.
- Follow all safety policies while performing job duties.
- Perform other job duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Proven experience (minimum three years) in construction management or a related field. At least one year of manufactured housing production experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team through collaboration and cooperation, while supporting multiple teams in order to meet production goals.
- Ability to lead and inspire large groups of people to work as a team and achieve organizational goals.
- Demonstrated ability to support and encourage staff, demonstrate empathy for others, to be trained, and take direction is required. Ability to coach other leaders, who in turn coach and develop individual team members.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain culture of accountability, give direction and assign corrective actions to staff as required.
- Strong knowledge of quality control principles and practices.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies.
- Mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot production issues.
- Experienced in budget management.
- Ability to interface with regulatory agencies, especially In Plant Inspection Agency (IPIA).
- Complete working knowledge of construction schematics and standards, equipment manuals, HUD codes, and DAPIA approval packages.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds or more. Ability to grip, work overhead, bend, stand for up to 8 hours, walk, kneel, crawl, push, pull, reach, climb and carry various materials and equipment.
- Be willing to “get your hands dirty” while showing staff the right way to do things; working with tools/equipment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Able to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Microsoft Office and OneDrive experience
