    The Privacy Manager will assist Compliance team and company in meeting the privacy expectations of the compliance program, including controls, policies & procedures, communications, and training. The Privacy Manager will work in a professional role with a high level of independence, to ensure reported privacy incidents are investigated, program elements are implemented, and controls are examined periodically for effectiveness and efficiency. The Privacy Manager will lead department analysts and serve in a back-up role to Compliance leadership team. The role requires knowledge of privacy regulations including HIPAA and state data breach and privacy laws; interoperability, records management and access processes, investigative processes; policy management; and have general knowledge of insurance privacy practices. The Privacy Manager shall be self-initiating for projects seeking supervisory guidance where appropriate. The Privacy Manager will receive direction and oversight of work from the Compliance executive team but will also be expected to ascend to serve as the Privacy Officer.

    How do I make an impact on my team?  

    • Exercise daily oversight of privacy operations including workload, report quality, staff development, and presentation of information to clients or external authorities.
    • Conduct internal reviews or audits to ensure that operational procedures are followed.
    • Supervise the internal investigation of privacy incidents.
    • Oversee internal department tools such as 3D access monitoring, tracking logs, and other methods to manage privacy.
    • Identify and support implementation of improvements such as communication, monitoring, or enforcement privacy standards.
    • Evaluate, review and/or modify policies or operating guidelines to comply with changes to client requirements or regulations.
    • Provide responses to requests-for-proposals for prospective clients and present Navitus program at internal and external client and sales prospect meeting.
    • Provide effective communication of and participate in meetings and committees regarding goals, vision, and strategic plans Independently investigate cases of non-compliance with Compliance, HIPAA and FWA in accordance with the investigation protocols and procedures, including final analyses.
    • Lead new employee training and facilitate annual re-training and supplemental training including emerging privacy issues, preparation of training materials, tracking training activities, and analyzing training results for process improvement. 
    • Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to communicate with management, seek clarification on issues or dilemmas, or report irregularities.
    • Actively participate in webinars, local, state and national organizations and events focused on privacy for the purpose of ongoing learning, knowledge of industry best practices and identification of fraud schemes, as may be budgeted and available.
    • Partner with IT Security team to provide privacy consult and collaborate on vendor reviews, new products, data access and access controls, and shared interests.

    What our team expects from you? 

    • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in health information, risk management, healthcare and/or pharmacy preferred. Privacy or health information management certification is strongly desired. A combination of education and relevant work experience may substitute the education requirement.
    • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in privacy or health information management leadership role in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • Knowledge of CRPA/CCPA, TCPA, GDPR and similar rules preferred
    • Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
    • The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
