Private Banking Director oversees all aspects of private banking activities that service the needs of high net-worth clients.     TS Bank is seeking to hire a VP of Business Banking for the Ames market area. This position is responsible for the promotion and selling of products offered by the Commercial Lending area. Originate, underwrite, and close commercial loans in accordance with established lending objectives, policies, and procedures. Establish and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential clients by performing the essential duties and responsibilities listed below.

    Education and experience preferred includes: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in the field of business (specifically related to accounting, finance, and economics); at least four years or more of related banking experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Required Experience:


    • Consult with clients in evaluating other Bank products that meet the client's financial needs
    • Actively develop and maintain a good working relationship with and between all company staff, clients, and others involved in loan transactions
    • Promote sale of credit and loan services
    • Remain the primary point of contact between client and bank, throughout the loan process
    • Perform weekly file review of all loans in process, reviewing missing items still needed
    • Comply with all applicable government regulations and cooperate with internal quality control and compliance programs
    • Develop a strategy to assist clients after completion of the transaction, including review of and assistance for additional and future financial needs
    • Prepare statements on delinquent accounts and forward irreconcilable accounts for collector action
    • Participate in training programs as required by management
    • Review and analyze client's financial status, goals and needs, and recommend the appropriate loan product
    • Call on and market commercial loans to existing and potential clients on a local basis and make qualified referrals of other bank products to other departments of the organization such as cash management, TS AG Finance, and wealth management and trust.
    • Interview applicants and request specified information for loan applications including: obligor financial documents, corporate documentation, background checks, and other information pertinent for proper evaluation of the loan application. Analyze applicant financial status, credit, and collateral to determine feasibility of granting loan. Correspond with applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
    • Underwrite all classifications of commercial loans, including government guaranteed programs when necessary to meet client’s credit needs. Work closely with the bank’s credit analysts in underwriting loan requests into credit packages for appropriate approval.
    • Compile loan package and facilitate negotiation with applicant according to established loan standards, such as sufficient collateral, fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms. Refer loan to loan committee for approval; ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy; and assure timely loan closing and funding activities.
    • Responsible for growth of the commercial loan portfolio and management of existing relationships.
    • Assist clients with inquiries and information requests, and resolve complaints relating to credit products and services offered.
    • Strive diligently to maintain a quality portfolio with minimal delinquency. Counsel borrowers and recommend remedies to resolve delinquencies. Work through troubles and seriously delinquent loans.
    • Participate in the collection procedures to assure the timely collection of all delinquent accounts and develop revised loan repayment terms or schedules as necessary.
    • Establish and maintain positive networking relationships with business owners and other organizations to promote the bank’s lending programs and policies.
    • If employee performs duties and activities that qualify them as a Mortgage Loan Originator, they will be required to meet all requirements to comply with the SAFE Act.
    • Participate in the bank's business development activities, represent the bank in industry and professional associations, community organizations, local business groups, etc., and promote the bank's favorable image.
    • Ability to perform all other duties as assigned.
    • Comply with all banking and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees of company and the general public. Must possess good communication skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to operate the following: telephone, personal computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs. Advanced PC knowledge beneficial.
