Building and campaigning some of the most advanced and technically sophisticated race cars on the planet requires critical support from vendors and suppliers from every corner of the globe. The Procurement /QC Specialist fosters and maintains Vermont SportsCar’s critical supply chain relationships, ensures purchases are triaged to the best suited vendors based on overall quality, deliverability, and price, oftentimes within narrow but critical timeframes.
The Procurement/QC Specialist strategizes with VSC team members as necessary to ensure procurement expenses are kept to a minimum whenever possible, monitors in-process orders against agreed upon delivery timeframes as well as checking and approving incoming materials based on engineering drawings or specifications supplied as necessary. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills are a must.
Position Goals:
A critical aspect of the Procurement/QC Specialist position is to seek out key suppliers capable of meeting VSC’s strict quality standards and deliver products or services on-time and as promised within specified design parameters to keep projects on schedule. Maintaining strong relationships with these vendors is mission critical to VSC’s continued success.
Duties:
Procurement Duties: ● As a first contact and forward facing representative of VSC, strives to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and conduct whenever dealing with vendors or suppliers ● Purchases supplies, materials and parts as instructed ● Identify lowest cost suppliers for products/materials ● Track and record in progress orders ● Receive initial orders and document arrivals ● Source and interview vendors; negotiate contracts and costs ● Ongoing analysis of supply base to maintain efficiency ● Prepare requisitions and purchase orders ● Monitor order expenses to ensure best pricing available ● Communicate performances and costs to management ● Recommend new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategies as necessary ● Organize and schedule procurements in a timely manner ● Comply to scorecard measurement system to track values ● Communicate with vendors, clients, customers, team members, and managers to align goals as necessary.
Quality Control Duties and Responsibilities ● Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests against design drawings or specifications as supplied, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials ● Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor ● Return products for re-work as needed ● Approve all finished products following inspection(s) Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs ● Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs. ● Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures while complying with established legal regulations ● participates in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, attending seminars, watching industry videos, etc. ● Works to correct supply chain issues with vendors or suppliers in a positive and mutually beneficial manner whenever possible.At Vermont SportsCar, we take care of our employees.
