Digital Media Producer

  • The University of Alaska Fairbanks seeks a highly motivated and creative individual to join the advancement team. The digital media producer will help tell UAFs visual stories. Videography will be the main focus of this role, with an additional emphasis on photo capture at certain intervals. The digital content coordinator will work closely with the communications, graphic design, and photography teams to ensure creative consistency among various projects and captures.


    Knowledge of videography equipment, including cameras, sound and lighting systems.
    Proficiency in digital media, including various file types, export formats and digital workflows
    Working knowledge of the higher education social media landscape, including how content performs across various platforms.
    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software, including Premier Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, Audition and Illustrator.
    Ability to work in a Mac environment.
    Ability to effectively manage time and remain organized while working on multiple projects with set deadlines.
    Ability to work flexible hours, such as evenings and weekends, to cover important events and activities.
    Knowledge of metadata and file organization.
    Ability to be a dependable and creative member of departmental and cross-departmental teams.
    Must be able to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
    Open to constructive feedback and eager to learn and grow as a creator.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.

    One year of experience with shooting/editing video and photos in an academic or professional environment.
    Demonstrated professional experience producing short- and long-form videos to final state.
    Experience with Canon camera equipment.
    Professional social media content creation experience.
    Experience in K-12 or postsecondary education or government communications.
    Experience with digital asset management systems.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in communications, film, journalism or related field and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    One year of experience with shooting/editing both videography and photography in an academic or professional environment.
    Experience and comfort with Adobe Creative Suite, Premier Pro, Lightroom, and Illustrator or Photoshop
    Experience with logging footage/file organization.

    Position Details:

    This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.

    A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.
