    Qualifications

    Specialized Experience Requirements:
    In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement(s); please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.

    To qualify for the GS-05 grade level, 3 years of general experience, including 1-year credible specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 is required. Examples of general experience include but are not limited to: experience that may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work and demonstrated the ability to: analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

    Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to: experience collecting, reviewing, and analyzing information in support of programs. Assisting with the preparation of project-related reports, utilizing well-defined analytical techniques to evaluate processes.

    To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, 1 year of credible specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 is required. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to: preparing emergency equipment rental agreements; initiating and purchasing supply acquisitions; coordinating the development and maintenance of service and supply plans, coordinating fire billings to and from other agencies or individuals.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Substitution of Education for Experience:
    GS-05: 4-year course of study leading a bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education.

    GS-07: 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position; OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education; OR Superior Academic Achievement, based on one of the following: (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society member.
