Major Function:
Working directly for the Site Director, this role has direct responsibility and leadership for overall operation of production. Responsible for collaborating with the Site Director to set vision and implement Lean systems and strategies to ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a technically qualified work force, reduce operating costs, inventories and lead teams through continuous improvements. Oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly and annual expectations.
Develops long and short-range plans to assure the manufacturing areas are aligned with Division/Corporate core value strategies using lean principles as the basis for deployment of process. Assures that manufacturing resources are properly managed to meet customer needs in a cost-effective manner. Assures that all government and corporate regulations are followed and complied with.
Keeps current of latest business and industry developments. Remains flexible and progressive in leading/managing the manufacturing process.

Plans, directs, and coordinates all aspects of production processes in accordance with company objectives and operating budgets to satisfy safety, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.

Assures capital equipment is fully utilized and proper operator P.M. schedules are developed and maintained.
Articulates company, divisional, and facility objectives and performance through effective communication that may include regular staff and plant group meetings.
Recommends and implements changes to stay competitive in all areas of quality, cost, product availability, inventory control, customer service and employee relations.
Communicates effectively at all levels in the organization to keep manufacturing on track with corporate/division objectives.
Leads manufacturing in applying the principles of “Lean Manufacturing” in the work place.

JOB DIMENSIONS
Must have outstanding communication and management skills, with the ability to evaluate, develop and implement processes to improve manufacturing performance, structured know-how, and costs.
Working Relationships: Works directly with site management team and operations leadership
Decision Making: Ability to make procedural, policy and program decisions to determine operational improvements in quality and efficiency.
Problem Solving Challenges: Ability to solve difficult problems or the challenges encountered when meeting with managers and supervisors to agree on appropriate methods for adjusting production, staffing and purchasing to meet seasonal trends; and developing and upgrading performance of the production staff.
Provide ongoing analysis of manufacturing area operating results and corrective action to meet or exceed planned performance levels of quality, expense, efficiency and inventory control.
Responsible for appropriate personnel planning during peak and non-peak operations, to balance customer need and cost goals.
Support the development and implementation of the capital plan to provide adequate capacity, aggressive quality improvement, and strong cost and asset control.
Responsible for the design and implementation of plant production systems, policies and procedures, and methods as required to meet short/long term objectives.
Responsible for the development of improved methods, layouts, equipment, techniques and processes to maintain and improve the competitive nature of the manufacturing area.
Business Plans and Strategies
Utilizing Lean principles, methodologies and techniques, this role is responsible for the implementation, execution and overall operation of the manufacturing process. Responsible for the execution of production plans to meet the required schedule at a satisfactory cost level (includes cost center, budget, manpower plans, systems developments, and asset management). Provide development and guidance to the hourly and salaried workforce through proper coaching, partnering and relationship building.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
BS degree or master's in engineering or business administration.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in various functional areas of manufacturing with a minimum of five (5) years in plant leadership.
Good understanding of materials requirements planning and general systems is a must.
Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work closely and productively with subordinates, peers and top management.
