Product Development Director plans and directs the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Establishes research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Being a Product Development Director conducts market analysis and interacts with customers and prospects to identify new markets, articulate the value proposition, define requirements, and lead the development of a product roadmap. Oversees new product development and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products support the organization's financial goals. Additionally, Product Development Director develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Product Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Product Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Responsibilities of Director of Development
    - Design and implement our major gifts' program, direct mail appeals, holiday campaigns, planned giving
    - Expand our endowment, and current fundraising activities
    - Manage and cultivate relationships with existing major gift donors and identify new donors
    - Clearly communicate our organization’s mission
    - Assist the board and other staff with their solicitations (provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel and help with donor communications)
    - Secure major gifts at $5,000 minimum level with the goal of raising $100,000 in new gifts annually
    - Focus approximately eighty percent of your time on fundraising activities for major gifts
    - Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects using Salesforce donor database and wealth screening tools
    - Manage existing portfolio 1500 donors and prospects
    - Help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals by maintaining a strong relationship with the organization
    - Work with the organization to set goals and align fund raising efforts
    - Fully acknowledge donors both individually and publicly
    - Establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies

    Job requirements
    - Excellent writing and speaking skills
    - Ability to energize a team, persuade prospects and persevere to the end
    - At least 6 years of not-for-profit fundraising experience with a proven ability to secure individual and major gifts and meet objectives
    - An understanding of the special needs community and an ability to empathize with family members, care givers
    - Track record of successful face-to-face major gift solicitations
    - Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies
