Product Development Director plans and directs the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Establishes research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Being a Product Development Director conducts market analysis and interacts with customers and prospects to identify new markets, articulate the value proposition, define requirements, and lead the development of a product roadmap. Oversees new product development and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products support the organization's financial goals. Additionally, Product Development Director develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Product Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Product Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Primary Function: The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing all Sherman College of Chiropractic strategic fundraising activities. This individual will develop and implement fundraising plans aligned with the college’s goals, manage donor relationships, major gift initiatives and grant opportunities, and provide leadership and direction to the development team.


    Key Responsibilities:


    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies to meet the financial goals of the college.
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors including individuals, corporations, foundations and alumni, to support the college’s fundraising priorities.
    • Manage major gift initiatives, including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors.
    • Identify and pursue grant opportunities from foundations, corporations and government agencies to support college initiatives and programs.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the development team, including hiring, training and performance management.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership, board members, and other key stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with the college’s strategic priorities.
    • Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to engage donors and raise awareness of the college’s mission and impact.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, faculty, staff, students, volunteers and community members.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to fundraising, donor relations and gift acceptance.
    • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive donor information and communications.
    • Prepare monthly (or more often as needed) reports and updates on fundraising progress, goals and outcomes for senior leadership, board members and other stakeholders.
    • Lend enthusiastic support to college policies and to fellow co-workers, particularly in the presence of students.
    • Participate in and support the annual Lyceum program.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the development department.
    • Demonstrate commitment to the mission of Sherman College at all times.
    • Supervise staff as assigned.

    Basic knowledge and skills:


    • Master’s in business administration or fundraising.
    • Minimum of five years previous experience in fundraising, development or related field (preferably in Higher Education or Healthcare).
    • Proven track record of success in fundraising, major gifts and grant writing.
    • Strong leadership management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement fundraising plans aligned with organizational goals.
    • Prior training in fundraising principles, techniques and best practices.
    • Proficiency in donor management systems, fundraising software and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Preferred Knowledge and Skills:


    • PhD
    • CFRE or similar certification
    • Knowledge of chiropractic philosophy and education.

    Physical demands and work environment:


    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.


    Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee works in a controlled work environment and the noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Ability to travel after traditional work hours or during weekends as needed.
