    Tetra Tech’s High Performance Building Division is hiring a highly motivated Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to join our team of multi-disciplinary engineers. The Engineer will conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis for electrical equipment and/or mechanical equipment and processes through construction knowledge and engineering principles. Electrical equipment types included, but not limited to low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, panelboards and transformers, data and communication systems, fire alarm systems, lighting systems, electrical appliances, etc. Facility types include power generating and distribution systems, commercial and industrial facilities, municipal buildings and infrastructure assets, and residential properties.

    Your Contributions will Include: 

    • Preparing, reviewing, or modifying one-line diagrams, power risers, elevation diagrams, electrical floor plans, lighting designs, MCC and panel board schedules, and detail sheets.
    • Incorporating design changes using Revit (AutoCAD knowledge is a plus).
    • Coordinating electrical equipment lists with mechanical and civil disciplines.
    • Preparing project-specific technical specifications using CSI and SpecsIntact standard.
    • Performing service load calculations and power systems analysis.
    • Meeting project schedules and performing work within budgetary constraints.
    • Preparing status reports, basis-of-design descriptions, project manuals, responses to client comments, technical memoranda, and other project-related documentation.
    • Reviewing submittals and providing responses to Requests for Information.
    • Field investigation and facility startup support services as needed. 

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5 years of electrical engineering and consulting experience, within the architectural and MEP consulting industry. Degree in Electrical from an ABET accredited school.
    • Possess PE certification or the ability to obtain licensure within 1 years.
    • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
    • Good understanding of NEC and other regulations associated with electrical safety and construction.
    • Proficient with the use of AutoCAD and Revit Power system modeling software (e.g. SKM Power*Tools or ETAP). Comfortable working with
    • suppliers, vendors, construction contractors, and facility owners
    • A valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to client offices and project sites, good driving record.
    • Must be U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident due to contractual obligations. 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification a plus.
    • Lighting Certification (LC) a plus.
    • Working Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) standards a plus.
    • Design of fire alarm, security, and other low-voltage systems is a plus.
    • Design of substations and medium voltage distribution systems is a plus.
