Mission
After having produced almost 700 hundred identical satellites, the company is diversifying by developing an additional kind of satellites, with production starting in the next months. For that, an additional Final Assembly Line (FAL) has been designed by the Design to Manufacturing team (D2M) and is being setup in our factory. The Mission Support team is responsible for the implementation and the maintenance of both production lines, as well as in charge of the production support in case of any issue, training needs, etc… As the Lead Production Support Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the activities of a team dedicated to the mechanical part of Mission Support’s responsibilities.
Your Day-to-Day
• You will lead the mechanical team to troubleshoot, disposition and repair flight hardware.
• You will be the technical referent for the production support mechanical engineers and technicians.
• You will a point of contact for Design to Manufacturing (D2M) team to implement and validate off-nominal repairs and processes.
• You will a point of contact for Quality, D2M and Design Engineering for non-conformances management.
• You will be responsible for the configuration and the maintenance of the production stations.
• You will support Production Quality Engineering and D2M on work instruction reviews, Process Failure Mode Engineering Analysis (PFMEA), and First Article Inspections (FAI).
• You will identify process/design pain points on Production and address them in collaboration with the relevant departments.
• You will liaise with D2M and MGSE Team (Mechanical Ground Support Equipment) to design or improve the MGSE needed for production, and support their implementation
• You will oversee the Maintenance/Calibrations of the means and tools under your responsibility.
• You will be a point of contact for 3D measurements validation.
This position reports to the US FAL Mission Support Manager and is based in Merritt Island, Florida, USA. Full on-site presence is required. Weekend work may be required occasionally with appropriate compensation.
Your Profile
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace/Manufacturing).
• Master’s Degree is an asset.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with leadership positions is an asset
• Hands-on experience with hardware handling, repairs and power tools
• Knowledge about spacecraft flight hardware is an asset.
• Strong commitment at work.
