Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Biology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     ABOUT THIS POSITION

    Summary:
    The Biology Instructor candidate will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours of college-level lecture and laboratory courses each semester at the Montrose Campus. The applicant will be expected to primarily teach nursing pre-requisite courses, including Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Pathophysiology and/or General Human Biology, with the potential to develop courses in the instructor’s specialty. Courses are for non-majors and majors at the undergraduate level. As part of the standard teaching load, the instructor will be responsible for some of the organization and preparation of their lab courses. 

    The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; while the emphasis of this position will be on in-person classes, it may become necessary that some assigned courses be taught via on-line, hybrid, or distance delivery modalities.  

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
    •Teach 12 credit hours each semester 
    •Utilize D2L for course syllabus and grade book
    • Set up lab preparation 
    •Prepare and grade assignments, quizzes, and exams
    •Active participation in department course content meetings
    •Other duties as needed by the department

    Required Qualifications: 
    •Minimum: Master’s Degree in Biology (or related discipline) 
    •Experience teaching 100-200 level college courses 
    •Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching
    •Effective communication and organizational skills

    Preferred Qualifications: 
    •Experience teaching:, Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Pathophysiology and/or General Human  Biology lectures and laboratories
    •Demonstrated experience working with first generation and Pell-eligible students
    •Experience working with diverse populations and cultivating an inclusive classroom environment
