Responsibilities
• Work with research scientists to prepare and develop new chemical products and/or processes
• Conduct analytical characterization following provided procedures
• Document and accurately record data in a laboratory notebook
• Assist in the design of experiments to understand and optimize production processes
• Communicate progress reports and results to colleagues, sponsors, and scientists.
• Present a capstone presentation covering work performed and findings during the internship.
• Attend group meetings to obtain a wider perspective on industrial research and development operations
Qualifications
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate chemistry or chemical engineering degree at an accredited college or university (Junior and Senior level students preferred)
• Completed general and organic chemistry classes
• Basic understanding of analytical methods (GC, HPLC, titrations, ICP, GC-MS, NMR)
• Knowledge of basic chemical calculations (formula weights, stoichiometry, limiting reagents, titrations)
• Desire to work in and learn about industrial laboratory research and development operations
