Professor - Chemistry teaches courses in the discipline area of chemistry. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Chemistry provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Description
Husson’s College of Science and Humanities is seeking to compile a pool of qualified candidate’s interested in future part-time teaching opportunities in Chemistry. Such opportunities are dependent upon the needs of the University. Assignments may require teaching day or evening classes as needed.
The College of Science and Humanities is seeking adjunct faculty to teach the following courses:
General Chemistry I and II
Inorganic, environmental, Organic, and Biochemistry related courses.
Note: This position is for face-to-face instruction; instructors are expected to be on campus.Examples of Duties
- Teaching courses fall and spring semesters in chemistry in a classroom setting
- Assisting and supporting students beyond the classroom by holding regular or virtual office hours as needed
- Working collegially with other faculty in the area to develop and use common syllabi, course materials, and assessment methods
- Using instructional technology, especially the Canvas LMS, Husson G-Suite applications, the efaculty portal, and Examplify
- Assessing and reporting student performance
Typical Qualifications
Education: An earned Master’s Degree in chemistry or a related field is required; Ph.D. preferred.
Experience: Successful teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Demonstrated dedication to improving classroom teaching, exploring new methods, and adapting to student needs. Demonstrated ability to work well as a part of a team.

Masters Prepared $933.33 maximum per credit hour*
Undergraduate Course:
Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared $1,016.67 maximum per credit hour*
Graduate Course
Masters Level Prepared $1,016.67 maximum per credit hour*
Graduate Course
Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared $1,100.00 maximum per credit hour*
- Rate is dependent upon the number of students enrolled in the course assigned.
