Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Communication typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Communication Coordinator

  • The Communication Coordinator will support the operations of the Office of University Communication in a number of ways, primarily in the area of written communication for both internal and external audiences. Writing projects include news releases, special interest stories, campus emails and web content.

    • Graphic design experience preferred

    Duties and responsibilities




    • Participates in the development and communication of information designed to keep the public informed of the University’s mission, programs, accomplishments and/or point of view. This includes monitoring campus, local and church media via traditional and electronic platforms to keep appropriate campus entities informed and responding to issues as necessary.


    • Proactively seeks opportunities to celebrate Andrews University’s accomplishments, milestones and success.


    • Interviews individuals and attends meetings and events to obtain content for publication.


    • Collects information on campus news/stories either by solicitation or monitoring of departments/offices or through information provided independently by departments/offices. Writes and/or assigns these items to be written for dissemination. Edits news/stories delegated to other writers. Distributes news/stories to local and church media.


    • Assists University Communication and the overall Marketing & Enrollment Management team with ongoing initiatives by editing projects and creating content as needed. Projects may include websites, emails, mailings, news releases, general internal communication projects for faculty/staff/students, graduation citations, etc.


    • Edits and formats communication for campus emails, MEMo, departmental brochures, webpages and various collateral (e.g., Alumni, Development, Enrollment, Howard Performing Arts Center, etc.). Writes and edits according to the AP Stylebook as well as Andrews guidelines.


    • Manages the Andrews Agenda, including Week in Pictures. Edits Agenda submissions and reviews them to ensure required campus approval processes have been completed. Determines pertinent information to include in the weekly Agenda email; distributes Agenda email to faculty, staff, students and a list of off-campus subscribers. Manages the agenda@andrews.edu email account.


    • Oversees writing of the monthly articles for the Lake Union Herald.


    • Leads the annual Calendar events project.


    • Works with the communication manager, special assistant to the President and director of University Communication to review, edit and distribute campus-wide emails.


    • Coordinates the President’s Page email newsletter. Proposes content to the president, compiles/creates content and photos; works with the designers to distribute to Andrews alumni.


    • Responds to miscellaneous inquiries to the Office of University Communication, including through the pr@andrews.edu email account.


    • Completes other office tasks as assigned.

    • Strong organizational skills


    • Graphic design experience preferred


    • Strong self-motivation and self-starter


    • High level of professionalism


    • Be comfortable working collaboratively with other members of the team
