    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This advertisement is for the Computer Programmer Analyst II (CPAII) position with varying responsibilities with the Information Technology (IT) division.  The position provides user support for the Health Management System (HMS) utilized by the health department for clinical services and develop reports using LOGI Analytics to extract and manipulate data in report format for the users. The position also serves as the lead programmer for the HMS reporting solutions provided by the IT division.

     

    Position Responsibilities

    • Provides technical support to HMS users.
    • Works with users to gather specifications and requirements of HMS reporting solutions.
    • Develops LOGI Analytics reports for HMS and publishes reports for users to access.
    • Provides user documentation, training and support for staff.
    • Serves as backup to other programming staff on daily responsibilities.

     

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of normalized database table relationships.
    • Skill in interpreting and consulting with users to determine recommendations for program resolution or system design.
    • Ability to work and lead technical staff.
    • Skill in writing SQL statements to extract data from relational databases.
    • Skill in problem solving.
    • Skill in critical thinking and judgment.
    • Skill in providing quality customer service.
    • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
    • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness
    • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
    • Ability to interpret, detect, and respond to computer error messages and equipment malfunctions.
    • Skill with Microsoft 365 applications.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or 
    • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems; or 
    • Five years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
    • Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
    •  Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.

     

    Other Desirable Qualifications:

    • Experience supporting an electronic health record (EHR)
    • Experience developing reports with advanced reporting tools
    • Experience providing business analysis services
