Assistant Professor, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence/CS Approaches Against Social Inequities

We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests in any CS filed as well as those focused on Artificial Intelligence/CS Approaches Against Social Inequities. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, through their commitment to a diverse student population, to the excellence of the academic community.

    •Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.

    The Department of Computer Science is in a period of expansion and is currently home to 14 tenured/tenure-track faculty members with a strong record of excellence in research and teaching. The department maintains vibrant programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and a supportive learning environment for a diverse student body. Interdisciplinary collaborations with other departments and the College of Education aim to broaden diversity, equity, and inclusion in computing. The department excels in research and has a significant record of success, with over $6 millions of external grants from various funding agencies, such as NSF and NIH.     Responsibilities

    The position requires graduate and undergraduate teaching in Computer Science, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, developing an active scholar program in one’s area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments.

    Compensation

    The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is:

    $105,000 to $110,000 annually (12 monthly payments per academic year).

    The anticipated hiring range is $8,750 to $9,167 per month.

    Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).

    Professional development funds, moving expenses, start‐up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
