Overview:
We are looking for a dental assistant able to start on June 1st, 2024. The position is Monday-Thursday, to assist Dr Michael P Waters.
The practice has two locations.
Monday and Wednesday
Tuesday and Thursday
This is a low-tech practice with paper charts, so no computer proficiency is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments
- Take and develop dental X-rays
- Perform aseptic techniques and maintain infection control protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical history as needed
- Provide chairside assistance during procedures, including passing instruments and materials to the dentist
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care
- Perform basic dental laboratory tasks, such as pouring impressions and fabricating temporary crowns
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Take and record vital signs as necessary for patient assessment
Skills:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and maintaining X-ray equipment
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to dentistry
- Strong dental assisting skills, including chairside assisting, instrument passing, and material handling
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to accurately take and record vital signs for patient assessment
