Professor - Economics teaches courses in the discipline area of economics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Economics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Economics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • The Kelce Undergraduate School of Business at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Visiting Assistant Instructional Professor of Economics, a one-year position for academic year 2024-25 with an opportunity to apply for a tenure-earning position starting in academic year 2025-26.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Teach twelve hours of economics courses per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Additional teaching during the summer term may be available. 
    • Participate in University and College service. 
    • Maintain faculty qualification consistent with an AACSB-accredited institution. 

    Education and Experience

    Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire

    • PhD in Economics from an accredited institution of higher learning; ABD with an anticipated completion by August 15, 2024 will be considered. 

    Preferred Education and Experience - 

    • PhD in Economics from an accredited institution of higher learning; ABD with an anticipated completion by August 15, 2024 will be considered. 
    • Teaching experience and record of scholarly work are highly desired. 
    • Membership(s) in regional, state, or national associations related to teaching analytics is (are) desired.
    • Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching along with the ability and desire to develop a scholarly research program commensurate with the expectations of an AACSB-accredited institution.
