Professor - Economics teaches courses in the discipline area of economics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Economics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Economics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Qualifications:
    • A valid Connecticut teacher certificate in Home Economics, PK–12 (045).
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area(s) and/or instructional levels targeted.
    • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and educational assisants.
    • Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion.
    • Superior communication skills (oral and written).
    • Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint, Keynote); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype); Accounting Software (i.e. QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, Power School); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.

    Salary: $50,184 to $122,160
    Step Placement is based on education and experience as outlined in Article 4 (D) of the SEA Contract.
