    The Department of Counseling and Human Services in the School of Education, at the University of Redlands invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor. The successful applicant will teach courses in school counseling programs (K-12 and college counseling) and supervise practicum and field placement experiences. All School of Education faculty also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Department of Leadership and Higher Education’s Leadership for Educational Justice doctoral program.

    The Department of Counseling and Human Services offers Master’s degrees in school counseling (K-12, college counseling, or combined) and clinical mental health counseling. Departmental faculty include both experienced practitioners as well as nationally prominent scholars and leaders in both school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. The search will emphasize candidates who advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice through teaching, scholarly activities, and service engagements. Applicants should be able to facilitate graduate courses designed for school counseling candidates.

    The School of Education has been preparing educators and counselors for the last 90 years. It is a graduate and professional School of Education with a strong focus on personalized education and experiential pedagogy. The School is strongly founded on the tradition of liberal arts education, which is the hallmark of the entire University of Redlands. The scope of work in the Department of Counseling and Human Services provides various opportunities for close working relationships with colleagues.

Candidates are expected to excel primarily in teaching but also engage in scholarly activities as well as university service.     Required Qualifications:           

    • Earned doctorate in counselor education with an emphasis in school counseling or a closely related field.          
    • Demonstrated success working with diverse populations.   
    • Competence in clinical supervision attained through formal coursework.   
    • Strong professional commitment to the preparation of professional school counselors in K-12 and/or institutions of higher education (particularly community colleges). 
    • Commitment to the use of educational technology. 
    • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.        
    • Evidence of commitment to an active research agenda.                                                 

    Desired Qualifications:     

    • Graduation from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program.
    • Eligibility for credentialing as a school counselor in California. 
    • Successful teaching experience at the graduate level.
    • Involvement in state, regional, or national counseling associations.
