Being a Professor - Foreign Languages provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Foreign Languages typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • Saint Vincent College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position with a flexible start date.  The position requires a doctorate and a proven background in Political Science.

    Saint Vincent College offers undergraduate programs in Political Science and Public Policy.  Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Politics, Political Science, Political Theory, or related field.  The candidate will teach courses supporting the Political Science and Public Policy programs and Core curriculum, advise students, and maintain an active program of scholarship in Political Science.  Special consideration will be given to candidates who are able to teach in the areas of International Politics, Sustainability and Environmental Policy, and/or Introductory American Politics.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. 

    We are seeking outstanding candidates who exhibit a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and continuing scholarly activity in addition to building positive relationships with colleagues and students.  Excellent communication skills are required.  Candidates should have expertise in international relations and/or comparative politics. The successful candidate will teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses that support the Political Science program and Core curriculum based on their background, supervise student projects, advise majors, and develop a research program that engages students.  The standard teaching load is 24 credit hours per year.  Service to the department and college is expected.    The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts mission of the college, broadly understood. 

    The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to contribute to the activities of one of the scholarly centers at Saint Vincent College, such as The Center for Political and Economic Thought and the Center for Catholic Thought and Culture.

    Compensation is competitive.
