Professor - Foreign Languages teaches courses in the discipline area of foreign languages. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Foreign Languages provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Foreign Languages typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • Springfield Public Schools is accepting applications for temporary High School World Languages teachers for the purpose of establishing a pool of candidates to support learning for the 2021-2022 school year.  Candidates may be considered for both part-time and full-time positions.  Qualified candidates will be contacted by building administrators as positions are identified.  The salary range listed in this posting assumes a full-time, 1.0 FTE position. 

     

    Please note:  Funding for these positions is temporarily available for the 2021-2022 school year only.  Candidates hired into these positions will not retain job rights beyond the 2021-2022 school year.

    Springfield Public Schools is located in Springfield, Oregon, in the heart of the Willamette Valley, and serves 185 square miles of the city of Springfield and East/Central Lane County.  We are directly to the east of Eugene, where the University of Oregon is located.  We currently have over 10,000 students, 1,446 staff members including 645 teachers in our Kindergarten through Grade 12 school district.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A valid state of Oregon teaching license, or the ability to get one, with one or more of the following endorsements:
      • World Languages: Spanish
      • World Languages: French
      • World Languages: German
      • World Languages: Japanese
    • Successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal, Oregon Department of Education, and TSPC background checks

    Desired Qualifications

    • Demonstrated understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds that characterize a K-12 school community in a manner specific to the position;
    • Multiple high school subject area endorsements

     

    Salary Range:          $38,556 - $83,530, based on education & experience, plus a generous benefits package
