Professor - Medical Ethics teaches courses in the discipline area of medical ethics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Medical Ethics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Medical Ethics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     College of Nursing 

     

    Qualifications: Masters prepared nurse with a minimum of two years clinical experience Teaching experienced preferred. Credentials of and advanced practice registered nurse with licensure with the State of Louisiana. Possesses qualities of integrity, initiative and good judgment with high ethical standards.  Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with others.

     

    Duties and responsibilities: Teach healthcare ethics for interdisciplinary students. Assume and fulfill administrative responsibilities commensurate with the position by: meeting with Level Coordinator on a regular basis to discuss course objectives, grading criteria, student's progress, etc.; accepting designated assignments, assist in classroom and/or clinical teaching; assisting in student's progress and assume responsibility for improving teaching ability; consulting with level coordinator prior to initiating changes in lecture.

     

    Assist in the planning and implementation of a sound educational program designed to meet the outcomes of the specified course and level.
