Job Description:
Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Architecture and Construction Management Department. The department offers ETAC/ABET accredited Bachelor of Science programs in Construction Management Engineering Technology and Architectural Engineering Technology.
The successful candidate will develop and deliver courses in multiple areas of Construction Management, including:
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in construction management and participating in new program developments.
- Engaging in outreach with industry/external partners, and develop and sustain an externally funded research agenda in one or more areas related with 3-D construction-related technologies; building information modeling; design-build project delivery; construction materials and assemblies; sustainability; resilient infrastructure; construction robotics; virtual design and construction, surveying and geomatics and other emerging areas of relevance to the construction industry.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and leading regional and national student competitions.
- Perform service to the school, college, and profession. Expectations of service include participation in student advisement, recruitment, and other department activities. The candidate is also expected to engage with constituents involved in the region's public works and conduct research leading to publications.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and must be committed to the continuous improvement process to maintain specialized accreditation. Teaching assignments include day, evening, and possible online and hybrid courses.
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Service includes advising students and serving on departmental and college-wide committees. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and a high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- An earned PhD in construction management, construction engineering, or a closely related discipline. ABD may be considered if the degree is expected to be completed before the start date and supported by certification from the principal dissertation advisor.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to conduct scholarship in Construction Management or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- College-level teaching experience in graduate and undergraduate courses in construction management or closely related fields.
- Demonstrated record of scholarship, experience, and research interest in construction management or a closely related field.
- Industrial and project management experience in the construction industry.
- PE license or ability to obtain PE licensure.
- Professional certification for construction management professionals from professional organizations serving the construction sector.
Additional Information
This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.
- For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, October 16, 2024, and ending Tuesday, October 29, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
- CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Wednesday, January 15, 2025
- SALARY: $85,000 $4,000 in downstate location pay = $89,000 Total Compensation.
