Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor of Nursing and Behavioral Health Program Coordinator

  • Coker University's College of Health Professions is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor of Nursing and Behavioral Health Program Coordinator beginning January 2024. This position is a 12-month clinical position with a competitive salary and benefits and reports to the Dean of Health Professions. This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice with development of a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) program. Emphasis will be on creating a student-focused program that imbeds a holistic approach to care and is grounded in an understanding of adverse childhood experiences.

    Required qualifications:

    • Earned master's degree or higher in nursing.
    • Strong clinical background as a PMHNP.
    • Licensed (or eligible) to practice nursing in South Carolina.
    • Successful teaching and leadership experience in a nursing education program preferred.

    Responsibilities:

    During the first year, 50% of time in this position will be in clinical practice with Child and Family Resources. The other 50% of time will be spent with Coker University developing courses, policies, and procedures needed for opening the PMHNP program in August of 2024.

    Details include:

    -Working with program directors and clinical coordinators to identify the types of clinical experiences and sites needed for optimal clinical education of students.

    -Participating in the development of academic policies affecting the admission, progression, graduation, and dismissal of students.

    -Participating in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of nursing curricula.

    -Applying evidence from best education practices to student success initiatives.


    Additional service responsibilities for the discipline, institution, community and profession include:

    -Participate in the Nursing faculty, standing committee, task force, and other meetings.

    -Participate in Faculty Senate and ad hoc committees.

    -Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate.

    -Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate.

    -Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members within Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.

    -Advance Coker's educational mission and core values through the undergraduate nursing programs and serve as an advocate for learners at all levels.

    -Engage in clinical scholarship.
