Professor - Social Work teaches courses in the discipline area of social work. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Social Work provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Social Work typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Responsible for delivery of social services to residents and their families. Responsible for consultation and direction of Social Service in a skilled nursing facility. Develops, organizes and implements programs, policies and procedures, conducts case work services and counseling, recommends functions necessary to ensure overall operational viability. Responsibilities:
- Prepares social histories for use by professional facility staff and participates in resident care conferences
- Assures that social service/discharge planning activities are integrated and coordinated within the facility by effective communication at all levels
- Participates in the development and reassessment, as needed of each resident's social service and interdisciplinary care plan
- Handles problems of adjustment to the long-term care facility and maintains frequent contact with residents and their families.
- Serves as an advocate for residents and their families
- Demonstrates knowledge of clinical social work and discharge planning
- Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of residents and their families.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must possess a master's Degree in Social Work or related field of study
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in a Social Work capacity at a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility
