Professor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Visiting Professor in Sociology and Criminal Justice, Non-Tenure Track

  • The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Suffolk University is recruiting a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure track (NTT) for a one-year position with the possibility of renewal.  Teaching responsibilities will begin in the fall semester. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. sociology, criminology, criminal justice, public policy, public administration); preference will be given for candidates with experience teaching courses in sociology or criminal justice at the college/university levelAbility to teach courses in both our Master of Science in Crime and Justice Studies program and our undergraduate major programs in Sociology and Criminal Justice is requiredInclusive teaching practices and a commitment to supporting the success of students from diverse backgrounds are high priorities. Faculty responsibilities include teaching 8 courses per year (a 4-4 annual course load).
