Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    Position Title : Special Education Teacher for 2024-2025 School Year

    Trenton Special School District

    Term of Employment : Two Hundred (200) Days Contract

    Immediate Supervisor : Building Level Principal

    Qualifications : Tennessee Licensure for Special Education

    Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the Trenton Special School District policies and philosophy.

    • Have the ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without the loss of efficiency or composure.

    Responsibilities :

    Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following :

    • Planning and implementing the daily program using current state standards
    • Planning and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
    • Supervise the classroom
    • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the District at all times
    • Treat all children with dignity and respect
    • Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children.

    Maintain a neat and organized classroom.

    Supervise activities to ensure safety at all times.

    Physical Requirements :

    Must have the ability to :

    • Work with children on the floor
    • Work outdoors in any variety of weather
    • Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
    • Climb up and down stairs
    • Have mobility required to ensure the safety of children
    • Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of children
    • Assist in bus loading and unloading
    • Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities
