  • The National EMS Academy, which is a division of Acadian Ambulance, is currently seeking a full-time EMS Program Manager for their Lafayette, Louisiana, location. The chosen individual will ensure the initial paramedic education and EMS activities are operated in a manner that provides the maximum support and contribution to fulfill the mission of the National EMS Academy and Acadian Ambulance Service.

    As the largest privately-held medical transportation company in the nation, we serve areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas with reliable, cutting-edge technologies. With campuses throughout Louisiana and Texas, the National EMS Academy offers entry-level, continuing education, and refresher courses for a number of EMS career pathways, including EMTs and paramedics. We are a nationally accredited EMS training facility and also an authorized American Heart Association Training Center for CPR and continuing education courses.

    The National EMS Academy is dedicated to providing a positive learning experience for students, using a combination of classroom instruction and real-life simulation to create an exciting environment for learning.

    Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of educational principles and practices. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and interpret federal, state and local rules and statutes relating to the provision of emergency pre-hospital care, pre-hospital initial education, and continuing medical education. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational accreditation. Ability to project staffing trends and create workable plans that fit the vision of Acadian Ambulance and the National EMS Academy.

    Use of basic Microsoft Office programs, math, medical terminology, test preparation, curriculum development, and operation of all medical equipment specified by the Louisiana Bureau of EMS. Ability to evaluate medical performance in class and on actual emergencies.

    • Promotes positive customer relations in dealing with students and employees.
    • Adherence to, compliance with, and demonstration of; support for the mission and values of the National EMS Academy
    • Work in concert with other divisions within Acadian Ambulance Service.
    • Prepare special reports and analyses as required by the Senior Director.
    • Provide leadership, oversight, and direction for the activities of planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Paramedic program.
    • Plans, implements, and reviews departmental short and long-range goals.
    • Provide leadership, oversight and direction for the planning, development, and implementation of courses in pre-hospital emergency care including (e.g. Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic).
    • Monitors all relevant laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, orders or directions in regards to paramedic education.
    • Assists with supervisory/administrative tasks including disciplinary actions, employee evaluations, and hiring recommendations.
    • Keep up-to-date and well informed about trends and best practices in the pre-hospital emergency health care industry including the development and implementation of new training curricula.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any given field; Master’s degree preferred
    • Minimum of 10 years ALS ambulance experience preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with the following:
    • new employee training and education
    • administration of educational programs
    • Supervisory experience preferred in an Educational program or Pre- Hospital setting
    • Possession of a current National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) Certificate.
    • Possession of a current Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) Certificate issued by the state of Louisiana.
    • Certificate of Completion from a Louisiana EMS Instructor/Coordinator Course within 6 months of employment.
    • Ability to become National and State certified paramedic in any relevant states.
    • Instructor certification in ACLS and BLS
    • Typing skills, basic Microsoft Office program skills
