    Job Summary

    The Program Manager is primarily responsible for planning and implementing programs for girls in grades K-12 in one of the following core areas: life skills and travel, outdoors and day camp, STEM, or Girl Scouts Beyond Bars. This position is accountable for integrated management and coordination of all program delivery and support services in designated content, grade level, or geographic areas in and/or across multiple pathways. The manager ensures that program development and implementation support the council’s program plan and strategic business goals, maintains strict adherence to safety and security guidelines, promotes the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and outcomes, and/or links to national program curricula. The Program Manager works in a variety of settings at Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma and may be employed in the following programs – Life skills Pillar and Girl Travel Program, STEM Pillar, Outdoors Pillar and Day Camp Program, or the Girl Scouts Beyond Bars Program. The essential functions may vary to some degree from one program to another, as well as the different environments where duties are performed.

    This is a safety sensitive position.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Life Skills Pillar and Girl Travel Program.

    • Develops and manages national and international travel opportunities for girls through a progressive learning experience focused on girl-planning.
    • Develops and conducts life skills events focused on civic engagement, healthy living, global citizenship, and communications skills.
    • Must be available and willing to travel approximately four weeks combined annually.

    STEM Program

    • Develops and conducts programming in areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by partnering cross-functionally with community organizations and content-expert volunteers.
    • Develops and manages resources including STEM Badge Boxes to aid volunteers in delivering high-impact programming in alignment with strategic STEM plan.
    • Collaborates with STEM Strategist to maximize impact of STEM resources and events.

    Outdoors Pillar and Day Camp Program.

    • Develops and conducts outdoor events focused on skill building and adventure through progressive experiences such as camping, canoeing, rappelling, and archery.
    • Develops and manages day camp programs for girls in various locations throughout the council’s jurisdiction working with volunteers to manage daily facilitation.

    Girl Scouts Beyond Bars Program.

    • Develops and conducts reconnection efforts for children and their mother through prison visits. Will attend Department of Corrections Training.
    • Communicates with mothers, guardians, and/or caretakers about child trauma, behavior issues, accountability, and successes, and provides parenting classes to incarcerated mothers in a prison setting.

    Additional functions for Program Managers

    • Prepares and coordinates budgets (including grant budgets) to ensure adherence to approved program events for girls.
    • Supports functions of the customer care process. Answers, problem-solves, manages and responds appropriately and timely to all inquiries including but not limited to email, phone and walk-in customers.
    • Knows the procedures and legal issues associated with recruiting, selecting, supervising, and releasing adult volunteers; ensures training availability, and manages volunteers in an efficient manner.
    • Assists in achieving the council’s membership and retention goals for girls by development, coordination and delivery of quality events, curricula, and additional resources as driven by market needs.
    • Cultivates relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support retention efforts.
    • Organizes and maintains Council assets.
    • Develops and delivers surveys and coordinates social media marketing and promotional campaigns to publicize events widely.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have a valid driver's license within the state of employment.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of customer relationship management systems, data management software, and social networking.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety and security guidelines.
    • Ability to obtain First Aid & CPR certification.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) products.

    Physical and Schedule Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Physically able to move through and between offices, program centers, campgrounds, and other off-site locations as needed.
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as the job requires.
