Position Title: Project Estimator
Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Reporting Relationship: CEO
Location: 3401 S Kansas, Topeka, KS 66611

Primary Accountabilities:

The Estimator/Project Manager, serves a vital function in the growth of the organization. This professional is responsible for accurately calculating the total costs associated with a painting project. After bid acceptance, this person has responsibility for overseeing the project through it’s completion.

Major Duties:

• Analyzes blueprints and specifications in order to gain a deep understanding of the project requirements.
• Visits project sites necessary to do the estimate.
• Make material selections and prepare submittals for upcoming projects
• Performs analysis of job costs and production rates.
• Prepares proposals to submit to general contractors and clients
• Work with clients and in house staff to coordinate project activities
• Manage field staff to ensure all site requirements are being met.
• Ensure fields staff understand safety requirements and provide appropriate PPE
• Track project schedules to ensure milestones are met.
• Conducts post project analysis to determine project success.
• Creates and presents reports to upper management.
• Builds and maintains long-term relationships with clients
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• BA in engineering, construction science or similar relevant field.
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) will be an asset.
• Previous working experience as construction estimator for one (1) year.
• In-depth knowledge of project management .
• Hands on experience with complex data research activities.
• Familiarity with computer programs such as MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat
• Good time-management skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Critical-thinker and problem-solver.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to put together a professional presentation.
• Ability to create reports on costing data.
• Strong analytical and math skills.
• Ability to work well on a team.
• Very detail oriented.
• Ability to understand technical drawings and requirements.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to sit; drive for extended periods.
• Routinely stands; walks; uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms; climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
• Regularly lifts and/or moves up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on project location

Work Environment:

• Outside/outdoor environment includes extreme hot and cold temperatures, as well as wet and/or humid weather conditions.
• Occasional stressful atmosphere with long or irregular hours.
