Job Description: Assistant Assurance Inspector
Schernecker Property Services (SPS) is a contractor based in Needham, MA, performing large capital improvement projects and maintenance for New England community associations. What our Assistant Assurance Inspector will do:
SPS30 Assurance is the 30-year maintenance and warranty service provided to clients for whom we complete SPS30 projects. Our Assistant Assurance Inspector provides field and administrative support for our annual inspection process to ensure we deliver the highest-value, long-term solutions to our clients and their properties. Using your expertise and understanding of building envelopes, you will work to ensure components are installed and functioning as intended.
Production / Quality Control
- Assist with on-site inspections of all the Assurance properties, including an in-depth inspection of the building envelope, meetings with homeowners, and input findings from the inspection in Procore.
- Create stock lists for warranty and billable repairs.
- Assist in the repairs management process including performing follow-up inspections of the warranty items completed by the Production Team to ensure the items were repaired as intended.
- Assist Assurance laborers when needed.
- Review and field work orders received outside the inspection period, including identifying and tracking warranty and billable items.
- Assist with labor for manufacturer warranty claims.
- Photograph new properties for the Assurance Report.
- Performing other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
A successful Assistant Assurance Inspector can balance these responsibilities through excellent time management skills, the ability to adopt new processes and technologies, and a strong commitment to “Delivering as Promised.” This role is supervised by the Senior Assurance Inspector and is a full-time, non-exempt position (qualifies for overtime).
Key qualifications:

- Construction knowledge: Has working knowledge of carpentry, roofing, and painting including tools, means, and methods. Has experience performing and supervising construction projects. Can read, understand, and implement specifications, plans, and drawings. Must meet the requirements of the MA Construction Supervisor's License, if not already obtained.

- Communication: Has excellent oral and written skills. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with clients, independent contractors, and employees. The ability to understand Spanish is a plus. Has strong interpersonal skills adapting to others to implement effective communication.
- Attention to detail: Prioritizes precision and quality over quantity or speed. Pays close attention to detail.
- Team player: Works harmoniously with co-workers and clients with a team-first attitude. Has empathy.
- Problem Solving: Raises solutions rather than problems. Effectively manages challenging situations.
- Technology: Has basic computer skills and is comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using file-sharing platforms like Box and CRM platforms like Salesforce is a plus.
- Flexibility: Willing to travel throughout New England within a 100-mile radius of Needham, MA. Willing to work 50 hour weeks and weekends as necessary, especially during primary exterior production seasons.
- Physical component: Requires driving, lifting of materials and ladders, climbing on roofs, and walking through job sites. A driver’s license and access to a vehicle for visits to job sites will be necessary.
