This is a full-time position located in Farmington, CT. Â
PURPOSE OF CLASS:
At UConn Health, this position is responsible for providing operational oversight and leadership for the Provider Documentation and Education Assurance Program and serving as an advisor to leadership on matters related to professional services coding, charge capture and impact on revenue cycle.

Receives general direction from the Assistant Vice President of Revenue Integrity - UMG Administration.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Directs the staff of Provider Documentation and Education Assurance Program.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:Â
Oversees all functions of the Provider Documentation and Education Assurance program;
Oversees and reviews the work of staff; provides staff training and assistance; conducts performance evaluations; responsible for hiring, discipline and termination of staff;
Provides leadership and direction to staff in managing their respective areas of oversight associated with documentation, coding and billing of services performed by providers;
Responsible for regulatory reporting in compliance with State and Federal Regulations for professional services;
Works closely with providers and others, providing guidance and training to ensure documentation and coding practices meet national coding and compliance guidelines; develops and implements coding policies and procedures;
Acts as program liaison, representing UMG and JDH Administration by providing expertise in health information documentation, data integrity and quality;
Collaborates with department chairs, finance and UMG and JDH Leadership to ensure appropriate clinical documentation for effective billing processes;
Performs benchmark tracking of provider documentation and coding accuracy;
Analyzes clinical and financial data for trends and opportunities for improvement of documentation integrity for professional services;
Responsible for integrity and management of Epic as it relates to documentation, coding and revenue cycle for UMG and JDH;
Leads special projects;
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply management principles and techniques
Considerable knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws, statues and regulations as it relates to documentation, coding and billing
Considerable knowledge of professional coding and compliance
Considerable skills in developing and implementing educational programs to meet the needs of a variety of staff categories

 EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
General Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or related discipline; or, a combination of extensive relevant work experience, education and training in the management of professional billing, coding, charge capture and documentation which provides the skills and experience necessary to competently perform the duties; and
Ten (10) years of experience CPT and ICD coding; and
At least (three) 3 years of experience working in a supervisory / management capacity
 SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess and maintain certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or a Certified Coding Specialist â Physician-based (CCS-P)
 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Epic (EHR) experience and knowledge
 SCHEDULE: 40-hour work week. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; 60-minute unpaid meal break. Â
