Provider Contracting Director directs contracting activities for a healthcare provider network. Plans and develops a contracts database system for a healthcare provider network to track, monitor, and record contract data. Being a Provider Contracting Director analyzes industry trends and network needs and negotiates contract rates and terms with facilities joining the health network. Develops reporting standards to ensure consistent recording of contract data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, Provider Contracting Director analyzes various rate scenarios to forecast and evaluate rate setting strategies, identify trends, and provide financial projections. Oversees the preparation, analysis, review, and projection of the financial impact of provider contracts and specific terms. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Provider Contracting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Provider Contracting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Summary:

    Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Provider performs a medical assessment of patients and prescribes or adjusts medications as indicated. Evaluation, management, and prescribing services are rendered on-site at SFRC facilities. On-call is required under the direction of medical and executive management. The Medical Provider collaborates with nursing and medical technician staff to facilitate admission, treatment, and successful discharge of patients with co-occurring substance use disorders. Additional duties may include but are not limited to coordination of care with referral sources as well as educational support and interdisciplinary treatment consultation with patients, family members, caregivers, and staff.
     

    Duties and Responsibilities of the Medical Provider: (Included but not limited to) You'll report to the Chief Medical Officer and:

    • Review patients’ medical histories
    • Conduct physical exams to check patient’s health
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as x-rays or blood tests, as required
    • Assess and diagnose patients
    • Give brief treatment, education, and counseling regarding diagnosed/concerns to patients and families
    • Prescribe medications as needed
    • Record patient progress and treatment utilizing an agency EMR system
    • Coordinate care across agency programs and referrals for needed services
    • Is available on an on-call basis for admissions from the hospital and ongoing or emergency medication needs.
    • Provides direction and support to nursing and medical technicians regarding diagnostic and medication management of clients
    • Prescribes various medications (scheduled and PRN) as needed during both detox and post-detox phases of treatment per protocols
    • Conducts or participates in quality assurance and educational programs; providing instruction and training in opioid addiction treatment with buprenorphine (Suboxone), diversion control, overdose prevention, and health management of addiction
    • Performs buprenorphine induction, evaluation, management, and follow-up appointments; coordinating with SFRC staff to ensure efficiency and quality recovery services are provided including monitoring at admissions, ongoing treatment, and discharge
    • Follows medical protocols established by the Chief Medical Officer including admission, treatment, and discharge standards in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
    • Participate in required staff supervision, continuing education, and training.
    • Performs any related duties as required and assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

    1. Provide compassionate patient care to individuals struggling with addiction and demonstrate commitment to their chosen path to recovery.
    2. Abides by the professional standards, rules, and regulations as promulgated by relevant state and federal licensing boards.
    3. Abides by agency policy and procedure established by the Board of Directors and Executive Management.
    4. Proficiency in providing medical and treatment information to program staff in person, by telephone, in written form, or by e-mail.
    5. Ability to make good decisions quickly and multitask well.
    6. Ability to consult a physician when there are limitations in knowledge or understanding of the concern/issue at hand.
    7. Ability to be detail-oriented in order to relay information accurately to internal and external treatment providers.
    8. Provide education to clients with limited health literacy and to those with English as their second language.

    Education and Experience:

    1. State of New Mexico licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required.
    2. Possesses current DEA and NM-CSR licenses.
    3. Minimum 3 years of experience working with co-occurring disorders, preferred.
    4. Fluency in speaking and writing in Spanish is preferred.
    5. Proficiency with office technology and equipment, such as computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and phone systems, is required.
    6. Proficiency with MS Office applications is required.
    7. Proficiency with electronic health/medical records (EHR/EMR) documentation, is required.
    8. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    9. Possesses a values base consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Agency.
    10. Must have and maintain a current, valid NM driver’s license. Must also have and maintain a clean driving record, as well as auto insurance.
