  • Tewksbury Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dynamic and experienced Psychologist V to provide direct clinical psychology services to patients and their families. You will play an essential role in providing direct clinical psychology services to patients and their families, contributing to Treatment Teams and community agencies. You will serve as the Director of the Psychology Department, overseeing assessments and interventions while directing an APA-Accredited Doctoral Psychology Training Program. Your responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, guardianship evaluations, and developing behavioral treatment plans. Additionally, you will coordinate the supervision and workload of psychology staff and interns, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and program requirements.

    In this dynamic role, you will lead the Rapid Response Team, contributing to behavioral crisis intervention strategies, and participate actively in multidisciplinary treatment teams. As a crucial member of our healthcare community, you will also serve on the hospital's Ethics Committee, providing consultation, clinical supervision, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA. Your expertise in individual and group therapy will help shape our patient care initiatives, reflecting our commitment to holistic wellness and compassionate service delivery.     Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

    · Direct the Psychology Department, overseeing staff assessments and interventions.

    · Assign clinical activities including neurocognitive assessments, guardianship evaluations, individual and group therapy, and crisis management.

    · Review and present credentialing recommendations for psychologists.

    · Co-direct the Rapid Response Team, a behavioral crisis intervention designed to de-escalate patient interactions and prevent Help Calls.

    · Head the Training Committee for the APA-Accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship Program.

    · Coordinate intern supervision, workload, and recruitment.

    · Conduct assessments for patient decisional capacity and guardianship.

    · Supervise staff and interns on guardianship assessments and complete necessary certificates.

    · Ensure timely completion of clinical evaluations under supervision.

    · Participate in multidisciplinary team plans for patient evaluation, treatment, and discharge.

    · Provide expertise in individual and group therapy.

    · Attend and contribute to staff meetings, clinical committees, and Ethics Committee.

    · Provide consultation, clinical supervision, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    · Knowledge of general individual and group psychotherapy theory, principles, and practices.

    · Familiarity with tests and measurement principles for intelligence, aptitudes, and personality traits.

    · Understanding of neuropsychology theories, practices, and techniques.

    · Knowledge of mental/emotional disorder types and symptoms.

    · Proficiency in psychotherapy principles, practices, and techniques.

    · Understanding of motivation and reinforcement techniques.

    · Familiarity with interviewing and statistical methods.

    · Knowledge of brain and behavior relationships and the appropriate test selection in determining a patient's current level of cognitive functioning (i.e., WAIS-IV, REY, CVLT, Clock Drawing, Trail Making, RBANS, etc).

    · Ability to recognize mental/emotional disorder symptoms and assess cognitive functioning in patients with medical illnesses.

    · Competence in analyzing neuropsychological data and making recommendations.

    · Strong discretion in handling confidential information and preparing statistical reports.

    · Proficiency in planning training, working in group situations, and communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

    · Ability to interact with distressed individuals, work in multidisciplinary teams, make quick decisions under stress, maintain records accurately, explain laws and regulations, administer and interpret neuropsychological evaluations, supervise staff and interns, and document billable services effectively.

    Qualifications - External

    First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

    Applicants must have a Doctorate in Psychology from a school accredited by the American Psychological Association.

    Applicants must also have at least four years of years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional post-doctoral experience as a Licensed Psychologist in the application of psychological principles and techniques in a recognized agency providing psychological services or treatment, of which (B) at least two years must have included supervision over Post-doctoral Psychologists-in-training and /or Psychological Associates.

    Current and valid registration as a Psychologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology.

    Based on assignment, must meet the eligibility requirements for Designated Forensic Psychologist in 104 CMR 33.04(3)(b).

    Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
