    POSITION DESCRIPTION
    JOB TITLE: HR Generalist
    DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
    FLSA STATUS: Exempt

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The HR Specialist is a trusted member of the Human Resources Department responsible for confidentially handling day-to-day HR functions including tasks related to onboarding, administration, benefits, and the DOT Drug & Alcohol program.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform various HR functions related to recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leaves of absence-FMLA, and general HR tasks.
    • With other staff, run the company’s Drug & Alcohol program, including pre-employment and random testing, documentation, and overall compliance with DOT regulations.
    • Assist with maintaining and updating company policies and procedures.
    • Maintain job descriptions.
    • Assist with OSHA and Workers Compensation tasks.
    • Any other tasks associated with HR or as assigned.



    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • At least three (3) years of experience in an HR generalist position
    • Knowledge of, or the ability to become proficient in, the Federal DOT Drug & Alcohol program.
    • Experience with benefits administration.
    • Experience with regulatory compliance: OSHA, EEO, FMLA, Workers Compensation
    • Experience in ADP WorkforceNow
    • Ability to handle and maintain confidentiality in all areas.
    • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to communicate succinctly and effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Professional in appearance and manner; courteous in all interactions,
    • Detail-oriented and self-motivated; able to work and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.


    Qualifications


    Education:

    • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Professional certification in Human Resources a plus.


    Special Qualifications:
    Must be able to multi-task; communicate openly and effectively; and must have basic Human Resource knowledge pertaining to office administration, benefits, labor laws, compensation, training, and employee relations.


    Miscellaneous Requirements:

    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
    • Computer, phone skills
    • Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
    • Ability to work within a 24/7 operation including holidays.
    • Ability to pass 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by airline regulations and company policies.
    • At least 18 years of age.
    • Authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986.



    Work Experience:

    • Prefer at least three (3) years as a Human Resource generalist
    • Prior experience in the airline industry a plus


    Physical requirements:

    • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position in a normal office environment.
    • Must be able to communicate through verbal, written, and electronic means.
    • Must be able to access filing cabinets, drawers, and shelves of varying height.
    • Must be able to move up to 25 pounds on an infrequent basis.
