Inputs transactions and administers a purchasing and contracts system or database. Being a Purchasing Clerk, Sr interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings. Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Additionally, Purchasing Clerk, Sr coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Clerk, Sr works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of purchasing systems, basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel. Familiar with the operation of a fax machine and calculator. Public contact experience resolving customer concerns both on the phone and in person.
Age Requirement
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common quotes, packing lists and various purchasing documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from departments. Ability to effectively present information to Buyers, Managers and Department Heads.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
